Cityscape Photography

Cityscape photography is an excellent way to showcase the skyline and its surrounding environment. This type of photography often incorporates geometric shapes and leading lines, which can steal a viewer's attention. The key is to choose a location that allows you to see the entire landscape in one shot without distractions. A black and white aesthetic is also helpful in minimizing the complexity of the composition. A wide-angle lens is a common choice for cityscape photography, which makes it possible to fit more subject matter into the frame and create a sense of depth. You may find that single-subject images are boring, so using multiple subjects within the frame is one of the best ways to create interest. You can also layer one subject in the foreground and another in the background to create a more complex composition.

When shooting cityscapes, most photographers use either a prime wide-angle lens or an ultra-wide lens. A prime wide-angle lens will allow you to frame a broad scene, while a telephoto lens will provide a narrower perspective. If you want to get creative, you can also try a fish-eye lens to create a more unusual effect.
